Lodge guests get a complimentary Castle tour during the opening hours. This is a very special place, with much history, with magnificent Antiques throughout. The Barker family - who own the Castle - live here, and open it daily to visitors. The gardens are also a work of art. Unforgetable experience, a must for visitors to Dunedin and this area.
Exterior: Low rise Colonial Farm lodge, set in Larnach Castle grounds, surrounded by thirty-five acres of gardens. Larnach Castle was built from 1871 over a period of 5 years, by 200 builders. A Scottish Baron, William Larnach, wanted to created a bit of Scotland in this far away land.The Castle is full of Antiques and historical mementos.
Lobby: Small check-in area with a lot of character.

The rooms are individually decorated in a themed period style to complement the hotel. Each has a splendid view of the ocean 300 metres below. All rooms are en suite with a bathtub/shower and hairdryer and feature a heater, telephone, radio alarm clock and a satellite/cable TV. Other in-room amenities include a mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and an iron and ironing board.

Lodge guests can dine in the Castle Dining room, bookings are essential. Specialties include Scottish cuisine, Haggis ceremonies, amongst other dishes.

Guests can enjoy a game of bocce.

The dinner menu is presented on check-in, however if guests intend to arrive between 5 pm and 6:30 pm and still wish to dine, then the hotel recommends calling by phone during the afternoon to discuss the menu and their choices.
