Guests can choose to work out in the hotel's fully equipped
gymnasium, or just chill out, by putting yourself in the staff's
capable hands and pampering yourself with a range of luxurious
beauty treatments. The hotel's extensive Health and Leisure boasts
- an indoor sea water swimming pool, spa pool, sauna and steam room
and air conditioned gym. Please note: Adult only swimming times are
between the hours of 12 noon and 2pm and then again from 7pm
onwards. During these times, no children under the age of 12 are
allowed in the swimming pool. This hotel is one of the best on the
island, which is constantly maintained to a high-standard by the
hotel's owners Handpicked Hotels. It provides an elegant and
relaxed atmosphere for which to enjoy a short break or a fantastic
holiday. The hotel is generally modern in design but finished to a
high standard with elegant features. Its location is perfect
year-round either enjoying water sports or simply relaxing. Highly
recommended.
Exterior: Steeped in history the house originally belonged to
George Hicks, a Colonel in the Bengal Army and Grandfather of the
famous actor-writer Sir Seymour Hicks, who built London's Globe
Theatre. The hotel is set across 3 floors with a distinctive white
presence. The hotel is set on the beach's promenade offering
fantastic views across the bay.
Lobby: The lobby is of a medium size and provides a bright
welcoming atmosphere to guests.
Rooms
The elegant rooms, of which 65 enjoy sea views, have a light feel
to them, thanks to the use of natural materials such as stone,
leather, limestone, pale wood and silk. The redesigned bedrooms
come with a 42"" plasma TV (with satellite TV), MP3 docking
stations (in more than half of all rooms), a W-LAN access point,
and a direct dial telephone. Also provided as standard in every
room is an en suite bathroom with bathrobes and hairdryer, a
minibar/ fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, an iron and
ironing board, a trouser press, a double bed, individually
adjustable air conditioning (in more than half of all rooms),
central heating, and a hire safe.
Restaurant & Food
At L'Horizon, whether you dine in one of the two superb,
award-winning restaurants, in one of the private dining rooms, or
in your own room, you'll enjoy food that is as light and full of
sunlight as your surroundings. Fresh local fish and seafood feature
prominently in menus that are imaginative as well as mouthwatering,
but you'll also find such succulent delicacies as Gressingham Duck
and Aberdeen Angus beef. The hotel serves such traditional dishes
as deep-fried fish and chips, and much of the exquisite food is
prepared by our chef and his team, with delicate spices that add a
subtle twist to the dishes.
Activities & Sport
Within the hotel grounds, guests may make use of the heated indoor
swimming pool, a sun terrace with loungers and parasols laid out
ready for use, the Jacuzzi, the sauna, and a wide range of massage
and spa treatments (charges apply). Sports enthusiasts may enjoy a
work out in the hotel gym, and for additional fees can try aqua
aerobics, surfing, windsurfing, sailing, cycling/ mountain biking,
and beach volleyball. The nearest golf course is located around a
10-minute drive from the hotel.
Directions, How to get
there
Jersey is only some 45 minutes by aeroplane from Heathrow and
Gatwick airports, and the hotel is also a mere 3.2 km from the
airport. A taxi or the complimentary shuttle service transports
guests in about 5 minutes to the hotel. For those arriving by sea:
the ferry from Saint Malo takes around 45 minutes, while the ferry
from Weymouth takes four hours. From the harbour, a taxi or the
shuttle service take approximately 10 minutes to reach the
hotel.
