Situated at 31 Lorong 18 Geylang Singapore, Hotel 81 Star is about 3-5 mins walk to the bustling main road. This area is known as Singapore's main red-light district and also well known to the locals for good food and fruit shops. The streets will transform at night with garish neon lights and red lanterns signifying houses of pleasure. This is as close as you can get to the alternative side of Singapore. It can be accessed within 8 minute walk to the nearest MRT which is Aljunied MRT Station, and 5 minute walk to the bus stop. Furthermore, it is 15 km to Changi International Airport, and 3 km to Suntec Convention Center.

As part of the Hotel 81 chain operating more than eleven budget, Hotel 81 Star feature modern exterior with bright paint schemes of yellow and blue. The building fronts one of the many side streets that make up the Geylang area, and it comes to life at nights with a bustling main road full of locals and renown for its cuisine. The lobby is very small, and a single counter manned by friendly staff with a small seating area.
