The Menumbing Heritage Hotel is built upon one of the island's most significant history. Originally a military compound built in 1866, the building was reconstructed into a hotel by Ishak Boentaran in 1980, renewing some of its more decaying sections but retaining the feel and aesthetic of the original building. Throughout its history, the Menumbing Heritage Hotel has housed notable guests which includes a respectable group of international scientists appointed by President Soeharto in 1988.
