Established in 1954, this family-friendly beach hotel exudes
Colonial charm and is a haven of peace and tranquillity set in 8
hectares of grounds, by the edge of the famous 5 km pink sand
beach. The hotel was designed by Biba founder Barbara Hulanicki in
an eclectic mixture of styles including Moroccan, Indian, and
Balinese. It comprises a total of 25 pastel-coloured cottages
scattered throughout lush tropical grounds. The cottages are
situated to ensure privacy for all guests and are the perfect
choice for those desiring a sophisticated but relaxed beach
holiday. Facilities on offer to guests include a lobby area with a
24-hour reception, a hotel safe, a bar and a restaurant. There is
Internet access and guests can also take advantage of the room and
laundry services for an additional fee. There is parking available
for those arriving by car and guests can also hire bicycles on the
premises (charges apply).
Rooms
The Oceanview rooms are privately situated with unobstructed views
of the Atlantic Ocean and the pink sand beach and have their own
private pathway to the beach. The 1-bedroom Oceanview units can
accommodate 2 adults. The 2-bedroom Oceanview cottages have a
sitting room/lounge that separates the bedrooms and 2 full
bathrooms, and can accommodate 4 people. All units come with a
private bathroom with a shower/bathtub and a hairdryer and offer a
king-size bed. They are equipped with a direct dial telephone,
satellite/ cable TV, a radio and a hi-fi system as well as a safe
and a minibar/fridge. Furthermore, tea and coffee making
facilities, an ironing set and air conditioning are provided in all
accommodation as standard. All units also feature a terrace.
Restaurant & Food
Guests are served breakfast each morning and the midday and evening
meals may be enjoyed à la carte or in set menu
form.
Activities & Sport
Rates and reservations for off-site activities can be arranged
through the front desk, for example bone fishing, deep sea fishing,
scuba diving, snorkelling, Eleuthera Island excursions, canoe and
boat rentals and picnics are on offer. Golf enthusiasts can play a
round at the nearby course, just 2 minutes away by car. The resort
features an outdoor swimming pool with a sun terrace with sun
loungers and parasols and guests can also relax in the hot tub or
with a massage treatment (charges apply). Watersports fans can try
jet skiing, diving, windsurfing, motor boating, sailing, canoeing
and catamaran sailing (all for an additional fee). The resort has
tennis facilities, pool/snooker, golf (charges apply), horse riding
(for an additional fee) and cycling (charges apply) and puts on
entertainment programmes for adults and children alike. Moreover,
sun loungers and parasols are available for use on the sandy
beach.
Comments
The primary mode of transportation on the island is golf cart,
which can be reserved with the hotel.
Directions, How to get
there
Guests should fly into N. Eleuthera and take a taxi to the boat
dock then a water taxi to Harbour Island and another taxi to the
hotel. The journey from the airport to the hotel should take 25
minutes.
