Phuket is known as the pearl of the Andaman. It derived much of its former glory and its enormous wealth from tin production. Today, it is one of Thailand's major tourist attractions. Located off Thailand's southwest coast, it is the perfect island in the sun. It can be easily reached in an hour by plane from Bangkok, as well as from other major regional centres. Nearby Patong Beach offers all the fun of sun, sea and sand, plus a host of water sports. The rest of the island beckons with a wealth of things to do and see, from golf to sailing. There is an outdoor swimming pool with children's pool. Banana boating, water skiing, jet skiing, motor boating, diving, surfing, wind surfing and canoeing are also offered, as are table tennis, horse riding, cycling, beach volleyball, pool/snooker and bowling. There is also an entertainment program provided.
