Built in 1943, this 9-storey, 353-room mansion was the first hotel in Shanghai to be fully funded, designed and constructed by the Chinese. Renovations in 2007 changed its facilities and décor, whilst maintaining its original look. Fully air-conditioned, the hotel welcomes guests into a lobby with a 24-hour reception and check-out service and lift access. There are several restaurants on site and business guests will appreciate the conference facilities, as well as the WLAN Internet access. Room and laundry services are offered and guests with their own vehicle may use the hotel car park free of charge.

The guest rooms come equipped with international direct dial telephones, satellite TV, Internet access and centrally regulated air conditioning and heating units. The en suite bathrooms feature a bathtub, shower and hairdryer. Refreshments can be found in the minibar and tea and coffee making facilities are also provided.

There are several restaurants in the hotel. The White Clouds Hall serves Cantonese food and the Sea Clouds Hall offers Shanghai-style cuisine. For Western-style dishes, guests should head to the French restaurant. Breakfast is served and à la carte and set menu options are available at both lunch and dinner time.

For leisure the hotel offers sauna, health/fitness center, massage and beauty salon.

From Pudong Airport guests should head northwest go straight to Longdong Road, from Nanpu Bridge to the bund, across Waibaidu Bridge, turn left by the second light, crossroad is Sichuan Road, then they can reach the hotel. From Shanghai railway station to the hotel guests can walking by turning left to the Middle Tianmu Road, going straight eastward to the Haining Road and after reaching the Sichuan Road, turning right to the Tiantong Road.
