Address : southdown road 18, harpenden Show Hotel Map

The hotel enjoys a relaxing location in the picturesque town of Harpenden in Hertfordshire. Situated within a 25 minutes of central London, it offers easy access to both the M1 and the M25. Direct trains run every 30 minutes to Kings Cross, London. It is just 6.4 km from the hotel to Luton Airport.

The hotel is set in a beautiful Grade II listed Georgian townhouse, with its own rich history, in the market town of Harpenden. It was previously used as a 'school for young ladies' and was subsequently both a private house and a convent for the Dominican Sisters. Operating as a hotel since 1970, it retains many original period features, such as the large 18th century fireplace in the lounge. Renovated in 2008, it now comprises a total of 76 accommodation units. The majority of bedrooms and meeting rooms are situated adjacent to the main building, in the garden courtyard and Hertfordshire wing. Facilities on offer at this air-conditioned property include a lobby with 24-hour reception and check out, a hotel safe, a cloakroom, a café, a bar and a restaurant. There is WLAN Internet access throughout, and parking is provided for those arriving by car. For an additional fee guests can make use of the hotel's room and laundry services.

Rooms
The majority of bedrooms and meeting rooms are adjacent to the main building, in the garden courtyard and Hertfordshire wing. Harpenden House underwent a transformation in 2007/2008 through an investment of several million pounds. Most of the bedrooms in the main building have recently been fully renovated to provide comfortable, modern facilities in rooms with their own individual character. 15 of the Garden Courtyard rooms have been fully renovated to an executive standard. These rooms are very spacious and comfortable and, along with the usual high-specification facilities, offer American-style king-size beds, a small lounge area and brand-new bathrooms with separate bathtub and shower. Each room at the hotel comes complete with a hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, a satellite/cable television, a radio, Internet access, tea and coffee-making facilities and an ironing set. Central heating and individually adjustable air conditioning also come as standard features.

Restaurant & Food
The magnificent Georgian Restaurant has a Renaissance-style ceiling and stylish contemporary décor. Here guests can savour the beautiful surroundings, while enjoying fine cuisine with a Mediterranean influence, created by the hotel's head chef. The all-new wine list will complete guests' dining experience, by complementing the food with an extensive selection of fine wines. Guests are invited to relax and take in the atmosphere of the hotel's welcome lounge, serving traditional afternoon tea and an extensive bar and lounge menu. Guests are advised that the restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings. Dinner service is available in the cocktail lounge or via room service.

Activities & Sport
Harpenden Golf Course is just a 5-minute drive away.

Directions, How to get there
Leave the M1 at Junction 10 and follow the A1081 to Harpenden (approximately 5 miles). Drive straight over the mini roundabout, through town centre and over the next mini roundabout. Turn left at the following roundabout. The hotel is 200 yards ahead, on the left-hand side. Harpenden Train Station is just a 5-minute walk away and offers regular train services between London and the North.
