Windsor

Built at the turn of the century as the baths of the Egyptian royal family, the hotel served for many years as a colonial British Officers Club before being purchased by a Swiss hotelier as a part of the legendary Shepherd's Hotel and converted into the Hotel-Maison Suisse. The hotel is a venerable Cairo institution with a rich history and offers warm hospitality. It is a veritable oasis of tranquillity amidst the bustle of central Cairo. Today, the hotel's famous Barrel bar remains a popular Cairo rendezvous. The establishment has recently been featured in a number of Egyptian and Hollywood films. Facilities on offer to guests at this air-conditioned establishment include a 24-hour reception and check-out service, a currency exchange facility, a café, a disco and a TV lounge. Guests may enjoy the convenience of 24-hour room service.

The hotel guestrooms retain an ambiance of faded grandeur. All come equipped with a minibar, satellite TV, telephone and hairdryer.

The bar, with its eclectic, old-world style, polished floorboards, large lounges, beer-barrel furniture and mounted animal horns, is the highlight of the hotel.
