Description

The Mount of Olives is a family run hotel. The hotel was built in 1960 around the home of the Khweis family which is presently used as the bar. Renovations to restore this centuries old room are scheduled for next year--2008.The hotel can comfortably accommodate groups of over 120 guests.The majority of customers are pilgrims who come to be near the areas where Jesus lived. There are many churches and holy sites around the hotel commemorating the historic events of the Bible.Public transportation to and from Damascus Gate runs daily until approximately 5:00 p.m. Afterwards, it is possible to either walk or take a private taxi for about $4.00 depending on the guest's negotiation skills with the driver. A walk to the Old City is a pleasant experience though most visitors generally prefer to walk down the hill than up.
Exterior: This is a modern building dominating its surrounding.
Lobby: Lobby is welcoming. It is medium in size and simple in design and devor - it leads to the pleasant lobby bar.

Rooms
Each room has a private bathroom with a bathtub or shower and a hairdryer. Other in-room amenities include a telephone, satellite TV, Internet access, tea and coffee making facilities, a safe and centrally regulated heating in winter.

Restaurant & Food
The hotel has a pleasant sitting and dining room which seats over 80 people at one setting.

Guided pilgrimage tours are available upon request. Maps and additional information are available at the reception for walking tours of the Mount of Olives and the Old City.

Keys must be left at the reception. The reception is open 24 hours a day.

Directions, How to get there
From the airport, take the Ayalon highway east to Jerusalem. It's approximately a 50-minute drive. Follow the signs to the Old City. Go around the golden walls of Jerusalem from Damascus Gate to Lion's Gate. The incline of the Mount of Olives is just opposite Lion's Gate. Continue along the road a bit further until the Garden of Gethsemene. Look for the Church of All Nations, turn left and continue straight. After a step the road will end in a ?T'. Turn right and drive about 15 metres. The hotel is next to the Chapel of the Ascension.
