This new design hotel, which opened its doors in 2006, is housed in a traditional conservation shop house located in the heart of Chinatown and features an emphasis on strong design, local culture and the arts. It is air-conditioned and has 24-hour reception. It has an open-concept, period-inspired lobby cleverly blending the old and new, with period furniture dating from the 1920s to the 1960s. The hotel has 30 individually designed rooms, all a mix of vintage and designer furniture, with customized baths, some including private gardens and six-meter ceilings in attic-style suites. The hotel has one restaurant - The Majestic Restaurant - a sleek reinterpretation of one of Singapore's favourite Chinese dining rooms and serves modern Cantonese cuisine.
