At this establishment, renovated in 2006, guests will experience
country living at its finest. The hotel is a building in Georgian
style, dating back to the 18th century, and incorporates a
fortified mid-16th century castle set in endless parklands.
Culloden House was requisitioned by Bonnie Prince Charlie during
the Jacobean uprising and used as his lodging and battle
headquarters prior to the fateful and final battle on Culloden Moor
in 1746. The Palladian style interior features ornate plasterwork,
fine antiques, and marble fireplaces to complement the warm
Scottish hospitality. On offer are a total of 28 rooms, in addition
to a lobby area with a reception desk manned around the clock, a
safe, a currency exchange facility, a cloakroom, conference
facilities, and an Internet connection via W-LAN. Guests may also
take advantage of the bar, restaurant, and the room and laundry
services. Additional amenities include bicycle hire (charges apply)
and parking for those arriving by car.

The lavishly furnished bedrooms are individually decorated in
understated comfort, underlining the character of a Georgian house.
Guests may choose between opulent period suites and contemporary
master and standard rooms, which offer modern-day facilities in a
pleasant Scottish atmosphere. All accommodation units come with a
complete en suite bathroom with hairdryer, a direct dial telephone,
satellite/ cable TV, a radio, a hi-fi, a king-size bed, air
conditioning, central heating, and a hire safe as standard.

there
To reach the hotel, take one of the roads off the A9 or the A96
which are signposted Culloden, Smithton, and/ or Balloch. Watch for
the hotel signs, and turn off between the historic Barn Church and
dovecote, and then follow the road to Culloden House.
