Located on the Canyon rim, half of the rooms at the Thunderbird Lodges have partial canyon views. All of the rooms are ideally suited for families. Rooms have two queen beds or one king bed, in-room coffee, refrigerator, safe, television, telephone, and full bath. Rooms designed for guests with physical disabilities are available. This lodge offers easy walking access to the dining facilities at either El Tovar or Bright Angel Lodge. Guests staying at the Thunderbird Lodge check in at Bright Angel Lodge. Please note rooms with Canyon views cannot be guaranteed. All rooms are non-smoking rooms.

All of the rooms are ideally suited for families. These rooms have either 1 king-size or 2 queen-size beds, television, coffee maker, modem ports, in-room safe, hairdryer, iron, ironing board and a telephone. The lodge has non-smoking rooms and rooms designed for guests with physical disabilities. All rooms are air-conditioned.

Its cafeteria style restaurant is located in the trading posts original building. The all-day cafeteria serves Native American dishes as well as continental cuisine. Adorning the walls of the dining room are excellent examples of Navajo rugs and artwork available for purchase. In the center of the dining area is a vault like room that at one time served as a jail for the trading post.

Check-in time is 4 pm. Check-out time is 11 am.
