The hotel is housed in former Victorian housing dating back to 1860 and has now been fully converted and renovated in 2008 to offer 73 en suite bedrooms. Relax and enjoy the traditional atmosphere of this historical property with its delightful furnishings, grand staircase, fireplaces and Roman artefacts. Guests are welcomed into a lobby with a 24-hour reception and check-out service, hotel safe, cloakroom and lift access. Guests can also relax in the hotel's bar and restaurant as well as take advantage of the WLAN Internet access plus room and laundry services. There is a garage and a car park (fees may apply) for guests with vehicles.

The en suite rooms range from those that are traditionally decorated to those in a more modern style. All rooms vary in size and décor and come with a shower, bath, hairdryer and double or king-size bed. Other amenities include a direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, radio, hifi and Internet access. Tea and coffee making facilities and central heating feature as standard.

The hotel's informal restaurant offers an extensive range of fine food and wine, and is available for private dining, weddings and conferences. A continental breakfast buffet is served, as are lunch and dinner à la carte and a set menu dinner option.

By car: from Manchester Airport - leave the airport on the Domestic Approach road. At the roundabout, take the fifth exit onto Outwood Lane. Bear left onto the slip road (M56, J5). Continue along the M56 and then bear left onto the slip road for the M53 J11/M56 J15. Continue along the M53 and exit at Junction 12 and then at the roundabout, taking the third exit onto Warrington Road, A56. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Hoole Road, A56. Continue along the A56 and then bear left onto Hoole Way, A56. Turn left onto Brook Street and bear right onto Francis Street. Turn left onto Crewe Street and left again onto City Road, where the hotel is located.
