Set amidst indigenous Bushveld and vegetation adjacent to the
Kruger National Park, the hotel offers warm hospitality,
exceptional close wildlife encounters, dedicated service and superb
cuisine. It is a privately owned hotel, where emphasis is placed on
detail and personal attention. Renovated in 2010, the lodge
features 35 spacious twin rooms and 5 family suites. Facilities on
offer to guests include a lobby, hotel safe, currency exchange
facilities, a TV lounge, bar, dining room and conference
facilities. Guests may also take advantage of the Internet access,
laundry service and car park.
Rooms
All rooms are uniquely designed in a warm African style and colour
enhanced by German craftsmanship and the extensive use of natural
materials such as thatch, reed and wood. They are equipped with
modern en suite facilities offering every comfort. The unique
set-up of the entire lodge, with a star shaped distribution of the
chalets around the main entertainment area, allows the visitors to
experience a true 'back to nature' feeling. Secluded verandas with
each room overlooking the Bushveld or the majestic escarpment offer
peace and tranquillity to observe frequently roaming game or the
abundance of birdlife. All rooms come equipped with a shower,
hairdryer, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, an ironing set
and a terrace.
Restaurant & Food
Breakfast is served as full English breakfast buffet style. Dinner
is served as a 4-course set menu or buffet. Emphasis is placed on
home-made traditional cuisine and innovative renditions of South
African specialities. Traditional braai (barbeque) dinners or
themed dinner events featuring elements from East Africa are held
outside in the boma under the African night sky. Private bush
dinners and picnics are arranged on request. Special dietary
requirements and meals for the health conscious are taken care
of.
Activities & Sport
The hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool, sun deck with sun
loungers and parasols laid out for use and a mini gym with power
stack, bicycle and treadmill. Outdoor activities with fees
applicable include game viewing on open safari vehicles in Kruger
National Park, 4x4 game drives in the Greater Kruger National Park,
big 5 walking safaris in the Klaserie Private Game Reserve and
guided nature trails in the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve. Other
exciting activities may include horseback and elephant safaris,
ballooning, mountain biking and scenic flights. River rafting on
the Blyde and Olifants rivers or leisurely boat rides at the
Swadini Dam compliment an African safari.
Comments
The control gates are open 24 hours. For save travel inside the
reserves, arrival before dark is recommended.
Directions, How to get
there
Take the N4 to Belfast. Take the R36 via Dullstroom and Lydenburg
to Ohrigstad. Follow the R531/R527 through the Strijdom Tunnel to
Hoedspruit. At the T-junction turn right on R40 toward
Klaserie/White River. After 7 km turn left towards Eastgate
(Hoedspruit) Airport and Timbavati Game Reserve onto Argyle Road.
Enter through the Guernsey Control Gate and follow the road for 15
km. The hotel servitude gate is on the right hand side. Enter the
gate and continue on the dirt road to the lodge.
